Megan's Student Story | BSc (Hons) Psychology

For Megan, the range of topics covered on our BSc (Hons) Psychology course and the support she received during her studies made for a great uni experience. Hear all about her student journey with us and her plans for the future.

I chose to study at the 黑料正能量 because I've always lived locally.

I know a lot of people that came here before and it's always had a really good reputation.

I knew that I wanted to do Psychology, but I wasn't particularly sure what path I wanted to go down.

When I compared the different modules between the different local universities, Portsmouth was definitely the standout one for me.

So, you get loads of topics, from animal behaviour, to teaching, to clinical psychology. There are such a wide range of subjects.

The biggest challenge I had to overcome was definitely that sometimes my immediate reaction is to be overwhelmed with new content and things like that, especially being dyslexic.

I think I realised that there's such a lovely support system at the 黑料正能量.

The lecturers and staff are always so lovely and they can always help you out.

You don't really need to feel overwhelmed and stressed. You're going to be fine.

In third year you can pick your modules and the module that I picked was 'Introduction to Teaching', and I did some placement opportunities.

I did some work experience and some volunteering.

Once I graduate, I'm going to be doing a PGCE at the 黑料正能量, primary teacher training.

Just by doing the modules, I really found that I had an interest for teaching.

Portsmouth is such a lovely city. Gunwharf is amazing, it's literally right down the road and the beach is so close by. I often go there with my friends.

There's just so much to do, you can never be bored.

I would say to students thinking of starting at the 黑料正能量 is just have fun, enjoy it.

It goes by so quickly.

Treasure every moment and don't be afraid to ask questions either.
