Biography

Yvonne Rueckert is Associate Professor in International Employment Relations and HRM. She has a background in social sciences and sociology and held several research and teaching posts at the University of Bochum (Germany), University of Oviedo (Spain) and NUI Galway (Ireland). She was awarded a 3-year PhD scholarship from the prestigious German research foundation Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and a 1-year scholarship from the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science. In 2024 she published a research monograph about employment relations and global governance focusing on the dialogue between the international trade union movement and the international financial institutions (World Bank and IMF). From July 2019 - 2025 she served as elected member on the Executive Committee of the British Universities Industrial Relations Association (BUIRA).

Research interests

Yvonne's research interests cover a wide range of employment relations and human resource management issues in national and international settings. She has a particular interest in the changing world of work and the future of work, the regulation of employment in different types of organisations, trade unions and organising, social dialogue and the promotion of decent work and social protection.
